I’m getting the tarantula today, but I’m casting it tomorrow.
It’s my first casting/taxidermy-related project, so I’m really excited for it! I’ve been all over the internet and have found quite a lot of useful information, but if anyone has any tips for me, I would love any help!
I’m using a polyurethane casting resin (most of what I have seen has been in castin’craft clear liquid plastic resin, so just to be safe, that’s what I’m getting. I don’t want to experiment to far and mess anything up.)
One thing that was brought to my attention was the possibility of getting bubbles in the fine hairs of the tarantula. Someone online recommended a whetting solution, does anyone have any experience with that? or is it really not necessary? The majority of tutorials I’ve seen don’t mention it, but I just want to be sure.
Thanks so much everyone, I’ll be sure to post pictures before/after :)
